Week 4

Today was the first day this transfer that I was able to get a nap. It felt so good. I felt kind of bad afterward when Elder Allred showed me all the work he had done when I was asleep. But At least this way I will be awake for tonight.

We went to the temple today, we got up way early to try to make it to the english session, we left the house at 600 and got to the temple at 830. We thought the English session started at 845 but it had actually already started. I think it started at 815. So we went through in Portuguese. I remarkably understood it all, and it actually sounded like I was speaking Portuguese at the veil. I don't know if I told you but last time when I went through in Portuguese the session went fine but the veil was terrible. I was hoping to see the cousin that grandma told me is at the CTM now but the americans were all in session when I arrived and they were all gone by the time we finished. I don't know if he was even there or not but if he was i missed him anyway. By the way speaking of grandma, make sure she knows that I love her letters and her stories. She has already told me many things about grandpa and great grandpa risenmay's missions that I had not heard before. I still haven't quite got the book list sent off, hopefully I will get it done by the end of pday.

So now on to this week.
We worked our tails off and finally got something resembling success. We spent most of the week trying to track down investigators, we decided that we needed some new blood. Most of our investigators were really non-committal. So we got two new great investigators on friday. It took a full days work just to find them but it was worth it, but of them went to church have already read and received a response and are preparing for baptism. One of them, Mercia, needs to get married, she and her husband have been together for 3 years, she said that they have wanted to get married but just never got around to it. So we are going to help them get around to it. The other is Jorge, he is great, at the second appointment we asked if we could mark more parts of the book of mormon to read and he said no that he would rather read the whole thing. His wife is bedridden so he spends a good amount of time reading in the same room as her. We had four investigators to church on friday, and all of them are actually investigators preparing for baptism. The other two came the week before last also, Jose and Karina. I used to think that they were father and child but I don't think so anymore. Especially since she calls him my his last name. There house if full of cousins grandparents great aunts and other obscure relations. But from what i have seen no brothers sisters or parents. There are about 6 people that live in that house. All four of them have a date of baptism set for the 18 so we will see. We are working with an old investigator to try to get her baptized this week, but she is nearly impossible to get a hold of. We have only seen her on the street, never in her house. Elder Allred has already taught her all the lessons before.

A funny story that happened this week.
The day after zone conference (Ill explain about that later) my alarm was still set to wake up at 530, so when it went off I reset it for 630 and went back to sleep. I had the ear plugs in because there is a cock that lives across the street that likes to crow at the brake of dawn. So I thought that I had slept though the alarm when I woke up and saw that it was 730. So we rush to get up and get ready to make up for the hour of extra sleep, we decide to go directly into our weekly planning session after personal study because we were an hour behind. But when I put on my watch I realized that we went an hour behind. I had accidently reset the time to 630 not the alarm, so when i thought it was 730 it was actually only 630 and we hadn't slept in at all.

Zone conference was great. The president introduced President Richardson (not in person, only his picture) to us in the conference, it got around that he is my stake president so i was riddled with questions. Most of which I couldnt answer. I thought I knew the guy but obviously not well enough, someone asked me to name all of his childeren and there ages. I didnt even try, I just told them that David is serving a mission. I really enjoyed the conference. Elder Brog (from my CTM district) and I talked alot and had a great time. I found out that Elder Ramos is with Elder Hale from my CTM district. That should be intresting. I also had left a few things in my old house so i had to drag Elder Peterson out to get my things. I had left my mapline and spare set of sheets and a couple of other things, I had been in such a rush to get elder Ramos out the door on transfer day that I had forgotten to do a final chech of the house. But because of the zone conference our numbers suffered this week. We were not able to hit the pattern of 25 lessons this week.

If all goes well we should be baptising this week and next week, hopefully we will be able to gain a few souls out of all of our work in this transfer.

I should go for now, I love you all.

Elder Reed Risenmay
